Business Empathy

My Gringo friend, who is working on a US$400,000 investment in Guatemala, told me a couple of days ago “Man, what you don’t get is that for us Americans, Guatemala is to much of a liability, specially for us investors or businessmen. I mean, your country is #84 on the “List of Corrupt Countries” - according to transparency.org. “In the US you open a business in 2 weeks, here its going to take me up to 3 months, if I’m lucky. I mean, I love Guatemala, it’s a chill place, but its like you guys don’t want to develop.”

Empathy is described by Webster’s dictionary as the action of understanding, being aware of, being sensitive to, and vicariously experiencing the feelings, thoughts, and experience of another of either the past or present without having the feelings, thoughts, and experience fully communicated in an objectively explicit manner.

I feel empathy for my Gringo colleague businessman.
