F#*K YOU BP!!!

Yes, Fuck you BP, Fuck you for being such inconsiderate assholes. Your oil spill endangered and kills innocent beings of all kinds; birds, corals, fish, humans. I quote the following "When countries are at war, one country may decide to dump gallons of oil into the other country’s oceans" or "Terrorists may cause an oil spill because they will dump oil into a country’s ocean. Many terrorists will do this because they are trying to get the country’s attention, or they are trying to make a point to a country" so which one is it?, you certainly have the worlds attention.
When the Exxon Valdez oil spill occurred, it impacted 1,300 miles, it took the Exxon Valdez Company four summers to clean up the spill. Some oil may still remain on the beaches. It took 10,000 workers, 1,000 boats, 100 airplanes, and the Navy, Army, and Air Force to clean up the spill. Exxon spent about $2.1 billion for the clean up.
Unlike the Exxon Valdez tragedy, in which a tanker held a finite capacity of oil, BP's rig is tapped into an underwater oil well and could pump more oil into the ocean indefinitely until the leak is plugged.

Long Term Studies Show Ongoing Environmental Impacts From Oil Spills
In 1969 there was an oil spill off of Cape Cod, Massachusetts. Studies of an impacted salt marsh show that fiddler crabs, a species critical to the health of the marsh, have not completely recovered 40 years after the oil spill cleanup.
This salt marsh is protected from heavy wave action, which is critical to breaking down oil from a spill. Areas of the US Gulf Coast which are also very protected can be expected to experience longer term effects as the oil will not be washed away by waves. Contaminants will settle in the salt marshes and mangrove swamps and food species will continue to be contaminated.
The effects of oil on wildlife have been studied in great detail since the Exxon Valdez Oil Spill more than 20 years ago. Ongoing research in Alaska shows similar results to those in Massachusetts, with more charismatic species such as the killer whale, still being impacted after two decades.
The complexities of marine ecosystems make it difficult to estimate what the level of impact of the Gulf of Mexico Oil Spill will be and what species will be most heavily impacted. Based on historic information from previous oil spills, however, the effects of this oil spill on marine wildlife will be significant and it will be long lasting.

So FUCK YOU BP.

WE'RE #1

Did you know that Guatemala is the #1 ranked adoption giving nation in the world. I just recently found out this fact.

Guatemala was the country that gave out the most adoptions in the whole world in 2008, higher than China who was #1 in 2007. That's right, in 2008 Guatemala registered 4, 123 adoptions, most of them to foreign parents.

Some experts insist that this is a good opportunity for the children, since most of the babies that are given up for adoption are born in extremely poor households and adoption almost seems like the only chance for a better life. Others (and I sadly agree) state that since it's so easy to adopt in Guatemala, this causes some women to get pregnant, wanting only to give the child up for adoption as soon as it's born and hopefully receive a nice monetary retribution for this.

The adoption process in Guatemala lasts from 10 to 14 months and most of the adopted children are newborns. The short time spawn and the average adoption cost of around $19,000 US dolars represent an attractive scenario for business, thus, crating a true market based on offer and demand based on children. Some Guatemalan lawyers are getting very rich due to this conditions...

My final thought on this issue is that hopefully, in about 20 years, one of this exported children comes home, and makes Guatemala a better place...
