Don't sweat it

According to scientist the planet is about The age of the Earth is around 4.54 billion years, we (anatomically modern Homo sapience), on the other hand, have only existed around 100 thousand years. So if we divide the time that earth the modern man has existed, into the time earth has existed, we get a percentage of 0.002%. This is how long we have lived in the earth since it originated. In this time, let’s say that the last 100 years of human civilization have been the ones in which we have developed the fastest, population wise and technologically. This means that the richest, most powerful men on earth have only been alive for 0.000002% of earth’s life.

Scientist believe we will probably go extinct, either we will kill each other, kill ourselves or get destroyed by a 3rd party (aliens, meteorite, something else???). It’s true we are very uncertain in when this will happen, but at the rate we are using our resources, and our steep population growth, it’s probable a big catastrophe awaits us in the future, killing us all.

This makes is just food for your thought, feed your brain this couple of paragraphs, and evaluate if the way you are living your life is the right way, is it right to study hard, for over 30 years of our average 70 year life span, to get a job we hate, so we can one day retire and finally enjoy life? Or are we supposed to wonder the earth, not knowing frontiers and evolving consciousness, putting our other 90% of our brain capacity in action, or maybe this is a waste of life too.

Sometimes there is just no right answer for this analyst; sometimes nothing makes sense… my advice, if any; appreciate every day, because every minute that goes takes you closer to your grave. Don’t fool yourself looking for happiness, because happiness (as sadness) is a state of emotion/mind (feelings), it comes and goes. Most of our lives we are what most people call “normal”. But we can strive to have more happy moments than sad ones, because at the end, you don´t take your money, you don’t take your cars, you don’t take your G4 airplane or your servants. The only thing you can leave behind is a legacy, so my final thought is: try to make yourself a legacy based on achieving the most happy moments you can, and this happy moments will last longer if they are not induced by anything but pure efforts of appreciation and triumph.
